Everybody in the free world knows what a First Lady is. The wife of the president. However, a lot of people don't realize quite how powerful she can be. Eleanor Roosevelt used her position to advance civil rights and women's rights. Edith Wilson stepped in when Woodrow had a stroke, and screened all legislation. Now it's Michelle Obama's turn.
With the obesity epidemic still a looming issue here in the U.S., the First Lady has worked with lawmakers to begin a nation-wide initiative under the simple title "Let's Move". She states that the problem is "imminently solvable", however she does not believe that it can be done with just one federal program. The Let's Move initiative will instead cover physical exercise, access to affordable nutrition, and school lunches.
With this initiative, the fight for public health across the country just got a little bit easier for the good guys. Let's join together in a collective "Thank you" to Michelle Obama. For more information check out the links below.
