Check out this fun cooking challenge from students in South Los Angeles, California. The designed and produced the challenge and the video, and they have a ton of other cool videos to share at www.marketmakeovers.org.
This video looks at what kind of healthy and affordable food is available at local corner stores. This is somethign Catalyst is hoping to look at it Minneapolis - we'll be working with some of our partners to help corner stores offer more fresh fruits and veggies!
What do you think - can you put together a healthy meal for your family with $10? Take the "So you think you can cook?" challenge!
Here's what the youth who created it have to say about the project:
"The South L.A. Shopping Challenge:
So You Think You Can Cook is a reality show competition set in the very
real world of the South L.A. food desert. An average family of four in
this area has $10 or less to spend on a meal. In this episode, two VERY
competitive teams race to buy the healthiest, yummiest food from the
corner store on their $10 budget."
