The Killer Quotes tour hit Mumbai last week! Holly shared experiences from the MN Killer Quotes tour at the World Conference on Tobacco or Health in Mumbai, India.
She was part of an amazing panel of advocates from around the world. Catalyst friend and supporter Nicole Sutton from Hawaii presented about the REAL movement's "Girl Talk" campaign, a countermarketing effort to fight back against Camel No. 9 and Virginia Slims Purse Packs.
Miranda Wang from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) shared an update on these campaigns as well, along with Reynolds American's "Farm" campaign - they basically used indy rock music and cartoons to promote their cigarettes. For more on the tobacco industry targeting women, check out CTFK's "Pretty in Pink" report. And here's more from CTFK on "The Farm" promotion from Camel, including the original ads.
Shane Bradbrook from New Zealand shared the "Maori Killers" campaign. A countermarketing efforts launched in part to respond to Philip Morris' exploitation of the Maori people with its "Maori Mix" brand a few years ago. Check out more on the "Maori Killers" campaign here.
The audience seemed to love the panel, and some people even tried texting "killerquote" to 67463.
Check back soon for the latest Killer Quotes Tour update. Who knows where the next tour stop will be . . .
